På ledarplats i Wall Street Journal jämförs idag det socialdemokratiska kommunalrådet Ilmar Reepalu med motsvarande makthavare i Dubai, där staten vägrade en israelisk idrottsman tillträde nyligen …
”Like the organizers in Dubai, Mr. Reepalu was afraid the Jewish
athletes could antagonize his constituency. ’A large part of Malmö’s
population is from the Middle East . . . I understand they are
uncomfortable about this and want to demonstrate. This is not a match
against just anybody. It’s a match against the state of Israel.’
Public support for the protests coupled with TV pictures of a
depressingly empty stadium were meant to send the message that — in
the words of the Malmö mayor — the Jewish state is not ’just anybody.’
Sweden presented Israel as a pariah nation that must be quarantined.”
Ilmar Reepalu må ha vunnit några Israelhatande väljare i sin valkrets. Men hela Sverige får nu skämmas internationellt för hur Malmös politiska ledning agerat.
