The Times berättar om undersökningar rörande potentiella nya partiledare för landets båda stora partier:

At least one party will want to find a new leader after the election. Last week we saw that Boris Johnson leads Theresa May in the Conservative leadership stakes by about 6 per cent, writes YouGov’s Stephan Shakespeare. Next up, YouGov polled on the Labour contenders, exclusively for Red Box. The result was a similar margin between the top two, with David Miliband leading Alan Johnson by 8 per cent. But there is a significant difference between the two polls: Johnson and May are seen as ”good leaders” by 29 per cent and 23 per cent, while Miliband and Johnson score 35 per cent and 27 per cent respectively. That superiority runs all the way down the order – the Labour leadership contenders are more highly regarded than their Tory counterparts.

När Labour valde efterträdare till George Brown 2010 stod striden mellan bröderna Miliband, David och Ed. David hade varit utrikesministern och ansågs allmänt som den i särklass skickligare politikerna av de båda. Men fackföreningarna på vänsterkanten såg till att ”deras” man, yngre brodern Ed, blev vald.

Ed har haft svårt att bli etablerad och accepterad som en tänkbar premiärminister. David Miliband har flyttat till New York där han är chef för The International Rescue Committee.
