60-talets hits: In the year 2525!

In The Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus) med Zager And Evans blev en gigantisk hit 1969 med en duo från Nebraska. I sex veckor på sommaren låg de etta i USA med låten som alla, och jag menar alla, gick och sjöng på: ”In the year 2525, If man is still alive, If woman can survive, They may find…” Texten hoppar sedan glatt tusen år framåt för varje vers till 9595. Den är så skruvad så ni måste läsa den:

Eller om det är en sann profetia, rena domedagen och skräck för teknik. Men det var det vi gick och sjöng på. Efter den singeln sjöng däremot ingen på Zager & Evans-låtar. De är verkligen klassiska one hit wonders. Uppföljaren Mr Turnkey gick inte ens in på listorna. Vad den handlade om? En våldtäktsman som spikar fast sin handled i väggen för att straffa sig själv för sitt brott.
