Grundkurs i relationerna USA-Ryssland

WASHINGTON Det hör ju trots allt fortfarande till ovanligheterna att kvinnor uttalar sig i ett tungt utrikespolitiskt ämne – och kanske var det därför som jag spetsade öronen extra mycket när professor Angela Stent tog till orda i PBS Newshour.

Hon utkom nyligen med boken The Limits of Partnership. Precis som titeln utlovar är det en genomgång av svårigheterna i de amerikansk-ryska relationerna. Det har varit inte mindre än fyra ”resets”. Ingen lyckades, enligt Stent.

Boken har fått fina recensioner, t ex denna i The Economist. Den amerikanske veterandiplomaten John Negroponte fick till en fin ”blurb”, nämligen att det är ”måste-läsning” för alla som är intresserade av detta viktiga geopolitiska förhållande.
